Today is Women’s Healthy Weight Day
Three weeks into the new year, are one of those people? You know, one of the millions of Americans who vowed that THIS is the year to lose those unwanted pounds. And here on January 19, you might already be throwing in the towel.
Well, if it’s any consolation, you are good in company. According to an article on Time.com, losing weight and getting fit is one of the most commonly broken New Year’s resolutions.
This week, we celebrate Healthy Weight Week. Today is also Women’s Healthy Weight Day. During this week, it provides us with a great opportunity to reevaluate your resolution…and renew your efforts to reach your target healthy weight.
It doesn’t have to be stressful. You just have to find a strategy that works best for you. For some it might be a program like the LifeBridge Health & Fitness Metabolic Weight Loss Program. Others might benefit from online weight loss communities like Spark People, joining an adult soccer league or taking a weekly Zumba class.
To get you started on renewing your new year’s resolution, Ellensue Levinson-Jeffers, a personal trainer and weight management and nutrition specialist at LifeBridge Health & Fitness, offered some simple tips for staying on track.
● If you want to treat yourself and indulge in something, buy it when you are eating out. Don’t keep it in your home, you’ll be more tempted to indulge more often.
● Walk more or get into an exercise program, but always remember to consult your doctor first. Don’t forget, while cardio is very important, don’t neglect strength training.
● Try to eat small meals throughout the day. Consuming small meals keeps hunger away and your energy level constant. Eat lots of veggies and fruit. Try to stay away from processed food.
Don’t give up on your new year’s resolution to lose weight!
