Upon hearing that the ladies at the Grand Valley Institute for Women which currently houses wrongfully convicted Hamilton artist Nicole Kish, can recieve CFRU Radio, a show was produced in December to support and raise awareness for the Free Nyki Campaign.
Wrongfully convicted artist and activist Nicole Kish recieved a boost in support on December 19, 2011 from Guelph Anarchist Black Cross (ABC) who teamed up with Earful of Queer of CFRU 93.3 to produce a special episode of their show which featured statments from Nicole regarding her wrongful conviction and incarceration at he Grand Valley Institute for Women and played some of her songs while raising awareness of the FreeNyki.org campaign.
The full unedited broadcast can be found with this article.
Nicole Kish was wrongfully convicted of second degree murder in April 2011 despite no physical evidence and none of the over 20 witness testimonies placed her as the perpetrator. A further yet-to-be investigated suspect remains at large despite testimony stating a male perpetrator threatening death to the victim during the altercation. Despite Toronto media branding her a panhandler and marginalizing her role in society, Nicole had in fact been out to celebrate her 21st Birthday when the tragic assault occured which left her injured and pleading for police and a St. Catherines man mortally wounded who later died in hospital.
