The World Joins to Protest Greed

Would Scolding Your Spoiled Bratty Child Really Change Their Ways?

We can whine all we like. We can assemble and take a stand. We can scream at the top of our lungs. And yes sometimes this makes us feel better to blow off steam, especially when done in a non-violent positive manner. However, let intelligence and common sense filter in and understand that change comes from within and it comes from within all of us – you, me and them! The fact that we’re complaining about an inequality puts value on what we’re trying to equate – the value of having more! If we’re asking someone else (be it the rich and greedy to take less) then we’re in turn asking for more, which is a pretty selfish act.  Of course everyone can always be better off financially with more money in their pockets, but that’s the problem – The focus on having more money isn’t what any of this should be about.

The problem isn’t that the rich are getting richer. The problem is that society is putting value on someone’s level on wealth. Now if they are making their wealth in a questionable manner that puts people at risk or exploits others then that’s certainly not acceptable. However, the lesson that people with money need to understand is that their wealth gives them the illusion of superiority and we feed them that superiority. Instead of protesting against them we should be working with them showing them (by setting the example) what we need to all do as a society. Why not instead assemble and gather with the poor, sick and needy and broadcast to the world that even the lower income people have the ability to help and influence lives in a positive manner.  Just as our children learn best by example, so can the rest of the world. You can’t make any person bend to your will, even if you assemble a billion people. However, you can show them a better way and then they must choose to try and change their ways on their own. Furthermore, any hope that the government will do something is ridiculous – it’s like going to the teacher to stop a bully.

I honestly believe that all people of wealth at some point (perhaps even on their deathbed) realize the illusion of their money. It is at that point that they begin to do the right thing. In fact there are some amazing philanthropic wealthy people who understand this from the beginning and give tremendous amounts of money every year to charity. Pointing the finger at the rich for the sake of being rich as greedy is ridiculous. I know poor people who are incredibly greedy with the things they have.  Let’s get rid of the labels and promote a mass feeling of humanitarianism among all people. It is the power of the collective, not protesting, but taking positive action and showing the world what needs to be done that can infect the rest of the world with kindness and giving.
