Everyone’s favourite new statutory holiday is just around the corner (Feb. 20th) and Tourism Hamilton wants to make sure you’re in the know about great things to do in the city.  Here’s just a sampling of five great options.  Or search for more great events on our homepage and create your own Family Day itinerary.

1. Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum: Kid Fest Family Day Weekend (Feb.18-20)
Head over to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and you’ll find Central Ontario’s largest indoor inflatable show. Bounce, laugh, play and run on some of North America’s largest inflatables and over 40,000 sq. ft. of warplane exhibits.

2. Westfield Heritage Village: Family Heritage Day Participate in fun family activities as you visit the heritage buildings, candy store and unique Gift Shop.

 3. Dundas Valley Conservation Area: Hot Chocolate Festival
The first annual Hot Chocolate Festival is a Family Day event! Sponsored by Marz Homes, the Hot Chocolate Festival will feature music, live entertainment, a walking tour of the Dundas Valley Trail System, and, of course, some of the tastiest, most mouth-watering hot chocolate anywhere! All hot chocolate will be provided by Camino. Proceeds of the Hot Chocolate Festival will support the Hamilton Conservation Foundation and Sustainable Hamilton.

 4.   Royal Botanical Gardens: Family Day
Head to RBG, Canada’s largest botanical gardens, for a chocolate extravaganza! Families can immerse themselves in the world of chocolate, learn how to make delicious treats and, of course, devour chocolate!  All part of the RBG’s ongoing Chocolate: the Exhibit, from tree…to treat.

5. Hamilton Civic Museums: Hands on learning
From Victorian crafts at Dundurn Castle and art and industry connections at the Museum of Steam & Technology, to Comedy Classics at Whitehern and a Pine Cone Café at the Children’s Museum, there are lots of hands-on encounters to be had this Family Day through Hamilton’s Civic Museums. Discover a War of 1812 theme at Battlefield House and dress up with your family in old-fashioned clothes, play with wooden toys and try your hand at spinning and weaving.
