WEEK 13 KEN MILLER PREGAME THOUGHTS
Here are the pregame thoughts of Rider coach Ken Miller in advance of Saturday's CFL West Division showdown between the Riders and BC Lions:
- I think both teams have been playing well recently. It's going to be a hard fought game.
- Their QB has been more consistent and so are their receivers. On defense they've been gang-busters in their pass rush.
- We haven't had Andy much this season so it's business as usual. With Lance Frazier we'll miss his leadership and on-field abilities. (Andy Fantuz and Lance Frazier are out this week due to injury. Mathieu Boulay and Eddie Russ are in).
- Andy will likely be ready to play next week at Calgary.
- Chris Getzlaf's resurgence has been due to his work ethic and commitment. It's a true to Chris Getzlaf than circumstance.
- Our players are playing with confidence, enthusiasm and energy. On defense they're sprinting to the ball with great urgency and on offense we're playing with confidence.
- We'll see how our D alignment goes tomorrow. Looks like Eddie Russ will replace Lance Frazier.
- We have to be effective and shutting down Bruce and Simon to win. We have confidence in the players that we have playing.
- I don't look into the future past this game. I have my hands full with the present. We have to look at the business at hand or we don't have a future.
- Former Rider Jeremy O'Day spoke to the team after practice. He's been a great leader over the years. Last week it was Omarr Morgan. Before that it was Gene Makowsky. I have those guys speak for positive motivation. I get tears in my eyes because it's quite emotional. It's really important for the players to get a message from someone who recently has been in the battle. I give my biggest talk of the week on Day 1.
